The recipe for preparing a home-made supercapacitor is shown here.
Improved versions (shown in the last part of the video) have 800 F of capacitance per single Tic-Tac case, 1.2 V voltage and 6 A of short-circuit current. The 800F supercapacitor electrodes were prepared with a bit newer technology shown in https://youtu.be/fcLZ6dM-qIU .
You need only some chemicals from the kitchen, such as water cleaning filter’s active carbon, sewer cleaning liquid (NaOH, but KOH is better), iron mesh, epoxy glue, shade cloth or paper for membrane and an empty Tic-Tac case. It is important to add only small amount of epoxy glue and it works when the size of carbon particles is between 0.2 and 2 mm.
Notice that there is a mistake in the video, correct formula is C=time/0.69/R.
If you don’t want to demolish your kitchen table then the carbon electrodes can be obtained from https://www.superaccu.com .
The original version of this video won a Novaator science video contest in Estonia (don’t confuse with Elbonia).
