FINALLY, a video of the new mill in action! Yeah… it’s another bottle cap. I’m sure I’ll have more stuff to show as time goes on, but as of right now this is basically all this machine has cut.

Boy, the enclosure doesn’t make filming easy. The only windows are on the front doors and they get splashed with coolant continuously. It’s not ideal, but it’s not terrible and will have to do for now. I have also mounted a GoPro inside. The angle isn’t perfect, but it does give a decent view of the tool changer (arguably one of the coolest parts!) along with the table.
The through-the-window video is 4K while the GoPro footage from inside the machine is 1080 (upscaled). Me-thinks a Hero 4 is in my future.
I’ve grown tired of the bugs in SolidCAM so I’ve been evaluating HSMWorks for the last week or two. So far I think it’s pretty great! The evaluation version is full-featured, including posting code. Very cool! There are a couple things that I miss from SolidCAM, but overall I like HSMWorks a lot more.
